Math In math we have been working on graphing and how to lay out a graph. We also worked on doing two digit multiplication by using base ten and breaking it down into just plain old multiplication. We did a graphing quiz and we started an everyday mental math book.
In reading we are doing a novel study and we had to pick books we were interested in. We learned about finding the main idea in our reading. We practiced with a partner and with a game called Battleship. Also, we finished Gulliver’s Travels and now we started a new book it’s called Alexandria of Africa. It’s about a girl that’s really bossy and bad and she had to go to court because she stole stuff in a store and she was in juvenile detention for a little while but they made her a deal you don’t have to be in juvenile detention if you go to a program in Africa called Child Save where you work with kids in need. Alley thinks Alexandria is going to change into a nicer person.
In writing, we wrote about our favourite and worst part of our Christmas holiday. We also began to come up with ideas for persuasive pieces. We learned that you can convince the reader by using strong words and coming up with good reasons to support your ideas/opinion.
We started doing cursive writing. We learned c and a.
In art, we did watercolor paintings. They turned out amazing!
In gym we played cage ball where you split up in two teams when you are one side.
