Updates are Revived!
Another Week in Grade 4 Ms. Ervin
In Math we are learning about division and we learned strategies that help us to answer them. We also learned about remainders and how they work. We reviewed multiplication strategies for two digits by one digit multiplication word problems.
In reading, we did a lot of reading comprehension and we all have been improving a lot. We are practicing using a thinking voice when reading and summarizing what we read in our head. We are going back for proof and picking out the answers that makes the most sense. Ms. Ervin is currently reading Alexandria of Africa aloud to us.
In science we just finished 2 new experiments. The first experiment was, “what type of gum can blow the biggest bubble? 5, Bubblicious, Bubble rolls or Hubba Bubba Max?” The gum that blew the biggest bubble was Hubba Bubba Max. Our second experiment was how many drops of water can fit on a penny using an eye dropper? Can you believe we got to 71 drops of water on a penny!!
In French, we are learning a new song called “Jouer au Hockey.” We just finished a slideshow called “La maison de Sylvain.”
In Writing we have started a demand piece and some of us have finished. We have to edit it and make sure that it is our best work yet!
In art we’re working on Hawaiian surfboards that are made out of 2 pizza boxes. We are going to decorate them and hang them on the gym walls for the winter carnival.
In Gym we are working on our high jumping! Some of us made it up to 95cm which is 5cm off of a meter! We also played Star Wars Tag. Furthermore, we played The Beep Test. The Beep Test is where you stand on one side of the gym and when you hear a beep, you run to the other side of the gym. But, you have to make it to the other side of the gym before you hear the next beep.
In Music, we learned how to use recorders. The notes we learned to play are A, B, and G. We also played 2 new games on the Smart board: Simon (a non-music related game), and Staff Wars.
